Anežka Chalupová

curator

As an art historian and curator, I have been active since 2018, and I gained international experience through study and professional internships in Milan and Berlin. I am interested in art theory, modern and contemporary art, and architecture. Since 2019 I have worked as a staff curator at the art zone 8smička in Humpolec, where I also contribute to the institution’s program dramaturgy. I have curated both large group exhibitions and a number of solo exhibitions, and I am also involved in editorial and redaction work in the preparation of exhibition catalogues. Since 2019 I have also been involved in the operation of Hunt Kastner gallery in Prague as a gallery assistant. In 2020 I co-founded Saloon Praha, the Czech branch of the international Saloon Network – a platform for meetings of professional women active in the visual arts scene. Between 2020 and 2022 I worked as a producer for lectures by Czech and international architects within the association KRUH, and since 2023 I have been teaching curatorial studies externally at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ostrava.

Within mentoring I primarily offer consultations on artistic work – both in the phase of preparing an exhibition and in reflecting on the current state of one’s practice. I can help with orientation on the art scene and within the art field, for example when preparing exhibition projects, working with a portfolio, or searching for an appropriate strategy for further professional development. I also offer consultations on grant applications, assistance with the conception of an exhibition or catalogue, or orientation in basic questions of the art market and gallery operation, for example when working with purchase or loan agreements. I offer mentoring primarily to emerging artists, but also to those who wish to return to the art scene after a longer pause. In terms of media, I focus on painting, printmaking, works on paper, and sculpture. At the beginning I like to jointly establish goals that we will gradually try to fulfill, but I am also able to respond to current needs. Personal meetings are important to me and I prefer them, although online meetings are also possible if necessary.
