curator

I am a curator and organizer working primarily within the independent visual art scene in Olomouc. I have long moved at the intersection of contemporary visual art and film. I currently work as the chief curator of Galerie XY. I studied at the Film School in Zlín and at the Department of Theatre and Film Studies at Palacký University. Between 2009 and 2025 I served as the director of the organization PAF, where I contributed to the dramaturgy and curatorial program of the PAF Olomouc festival as well as to other projects of this platform. I am a co-founder of the exhibition showcase XY and its gallery of the same name, the book fair LITR, and the showcase gallery Vitrína Deniska. I have worked as an independent curator since 2009, and during this time I have initiated or taken part – as curator, organizer, or producer – in the realization of more than 150 exhibitions in institutions in the Czech Republic and abroad. I have a long-term interest especially in working with the moving image and in the installation of audiovisual and multimedia projects, and I enjoy connecting visual art with other fields, such as sound, performance, or theatre. Alongside my curatorial practice, I also have teaching experience from the Department of Fine Art at Palacký University in Olomouc.

I see the purpose of mentoring in sharing experience and contacts, and an important part of my work is also connecting people and institutions – I am used to networking cultural actors and helping to establish functional collaborations. I also offer collaboration to more experienced artists who may have reached a certain creative stagnation and are looking for a new impulse or critical reflection that can help move their work beyond a “dead point.” I feel particularly close to working with artists who work with the moving image or with conceptually oriented practices. In addition to conceptual questions, we can also address practical aspects of realization – the production preparation of a project, possibilities of financing it, or finding suitable places and contexts for its presentation. In mentoring I respond primarily to the specific needs of the artist and emphasize critical yet supportive reflection that can help move the project forward. I prefer meeting in person, ideally over a specific work, but meetings can also be combined with video calls and ongoing online communication.
